Douglas Luiz Soares de Paulo (born May 9, 1998) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Juventus and the Brazil national team. He began his career at Vasco da Gama, making his debut in 2016, before moving to Manchester City in 2017, where he faced work permit issues. He was loaned to Girona twice before joining Aston Villa in 2019. At Villa, he had significant success, including helping the team qualify for the UEFA Champions League in 2024. In 2024, he transferred to Juventus. On the international stage, he won an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games and was part of the Brazil team that finished as runners-up in the 2021 Copa América.
